A shocking incident unfolded in Behala’s Shakuntala Park, where the hanging bodies of businessman Swajan Das and his 22-year-old daughter, Srija Das, were discovered inside his office. The incident has left the residents and family in deep shock. According to reports, Swajan Das had left home on Friday afternoon, telling his wife that he was taking their daughter to see a doctor at SSKM Hospital. However, their lifeless bodies were later found in his office. Srija Das, who was autistic, had been undergoing treatment for a long time. Family sources indicate that despite medical efforts, her condition showed no improvement, which left her father in deep distress. Swajan Das, a businessman, was reportedly suffering from depression due to his daughter's health issues. However, on the day of the incident, he appeared normal, interacting with people as usual before heading to his office. Swajan Das left his home in Maheshtala around 12:30 PM and informed his wife that he had reached SSKM Hospital. However, this claim raised suspicion, as the journey should have taken much longer. He locked himself inside the office, a residential space with bedrooms and a dining area. Later, it was revealed that he had called his employees earlier in the day, instructing them not to come to work as he had to take his daughter to the doctor. By evening, when Swajan Das was unreachable, his worried wife contacted family friends. They arrived at the office but received no response despite repeated knocks. Eventually, they broke open the door and found both bodies hanging in the back bedroom. The police were immediately informed, and officers from Parnasree Police Station, along with a team from the Lalbazar detective branch, arrived at the scene. The bodies were recovered and sent for autopsy at around 12:30 AM. Investigators are looking into the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading up to it. The office lights and air conditioning were found switched on when the police arrived, suggesting that the deaths occurred earlier in the day. The police are also examining call records and CCTV footage for further clues.
